A while back, I wrote an article outlining a few of the running trails near the Motel. It's always surprising how many trails we have near us, even though we're so close to downtown Calgary. The city actually has somewhere in the vicinity of 650 Kilometres of trails, the bulk of which meander around the Bow River. As picturesque as this is, there is a major setback to having so many trails so close to a body of water in the Winter.
I went for a run yesterday. It was terrible. Granted, I should have known better than to try to go for a run when the mercury was hovering around -25 Celsius. But, in my defence, it wasn't so bad until I tried to run near the river itself. There's nothing worse than reinforcing already cold weather with an unnatural level of humidity. Just standing around in it is like getting slapped in the face with angry, cold sandpaper. If going for that run was cosmic punishment for something I did in a past life, then I must have burned down a Puppy Orphanage.
Kidding! I was just kidding. There's no such thing as
